I left Portland on Monday with the sun magically rising over Mt. Hood and sparkling along the Columbia River and two great conversationalists that I found on craigslist : ) Portland seemed to be begging me to stay. The sunshine (and being unemployed) allowed me to experience Portland in a new way. I rock climbed outside in the Portland area a few times, drank lots of tea and coffee with my sunglasses on, played some tennis, and walked along the cherry blossomed lined river.

The drive to Salt Lake was very successful.. I made it alive! My new friends Emerick and Steven helped me drive and made me laugh all the way to Boise. One day visiting family was not enough though : ( My cousin Jordan took me on a lovely hike and drove me to the train at 2:30 am this morning. THANKS JORDAN!
My first American train ride was quite nice besides the frigid temperatures and non ideal departure time. I slept most of the 4 hour ride, grabbed my stuff and hoped off at my stop.
First thought= "oh cheese" There is nothing here! And I have about 70 lbs of stuff.. Took me 30 minutes and 4 breaks, but I am not safe and sound in Green River Coffee co.. drinking what tastes like weak Folgers. LET THE ADVENTURE BEGIN!
